Ich bin in einer Familie aufgewachsen, die von der Jagd geprägt ist – mitten in den Bergen, wo Stille mehr sagt als Worte und der Atem der Wildnis alles durchdringt. Doch während die Gewehre ruhten, lauschte ich dem Flüstern der Bäume, dem Flug der Vögel, dem unsichtbaren Puls der Natur. Schon früh spürte ich, mein Weg führt nicht ins Visier, sondern ins Verstehen.
Die Natur ist für mich keine Kulisse, sondern eine lebendige Seele. In der Einsamkeit der Alpen, auf Gletscherpfaden und in uralten Wäldern suche ich nicht das Spektakel – sondern jene flüchtigen Augenblicke, in denen die Welt sich offenbart. Jedes Bild, das ich schaffe, ist mehr als Fotografie. Es ist ein stilles Gebet, ein Akt des Zuhörens, ein Versuch, das Unsichtbare sichtbar zu machen.

I grew up in a family shaped by hunting – in the heart of the mountains, where silence speaks louder than words and the breath of the wild permeates everything. But while the rifles rested, I listened to the whispering trees, the flight of birds, and the invisible pulse of nature. Auf 2500 Metern, wo Fels und Himmel ineinanderfließen, lag ein stummer Zeuge – ein Steinbock, gescheitert an der Härte des Hochgebirges. Gamsblindheit raubte ihm das Licht, der Hunger den letzten Rest an Kraft. Zurück blieb ein Körper – ein Echo von Leben, von Würde, von Vergänglichkeit.
Von diesem Anblick gefesselt, begann meine Suche. Die ersten Bilder wirkten leer, wie Schatten einer Idee. Doch in mir formte sich eine Vision – ein Bild, das die rohe Schönheit der Wildnis spürbar macht.
Die Technik wurde mein Werkzeug, die Geduld mein ständiger Begleiter. Tag für Tag, Nacht für Nacht, verharrte ich verborgen im Geröll, bis eine Lichtschranke jede Bewegung festhielt. Ein Adler, ein Fuchs, die kleinsten Aasfresser – alle wurden zu Akteuren in einem uralten, stillen Drama: dem Tanz von Leben und Vergehen.
Sechs Monate lang lauschte ich der Sprache der Natur. Meine Kamera wachte – unbeirrt, unermüdlich. Nach über 4000 Stunden und tausenden Aufnahmen entstand dieses eine Bild – ein Zeugnis der Wildnis, rau und ehrlich, durchdrungen von Tod, Überleben und dem unaufhaltsamen Kreislauf des Lebens.
Diese Aufnahme wurde bei einem der bedeutendsten Naturfotowettbewerbe der Welt ausgezeichnet, bei der Asferico International Nature Photography Competition in Italien.

At 2,500 metres, where rock and sky dissolve into one, lay a silent witness — an ibex,
defeated by the unforgiving mountain world.
Snow blindness had stolen its sight, hunger claimed what was left. All that remained was a carcass — an echo of life, of dignity, of transience.
Drawn to this haunting sight, my search began.
The first images were empty, lacking depth. But within me, a vision slowly took shape — a photograph that would capture the raw drama of the wild.
Technology became my tool, patience my closest companion. Day after day, night after night, I remained hidden among the stones, until a motion sensor began recording every movement. An eagle, a fox, the tiniest scavengers — each became part of an ancient, wordless play: the dance of life and decay.
For six months, I listened to the voice of the wilderness. My camera kept vigil — relentless, tireless. After more than 4,000 hours and thousands of frames, this image emerged —
a testament to the harsh reality of life in the Alps,
a story of death, endurance, and the eternal cycle of nature.

Carcassa di stambecco
A 2.500 metri, dove roccia e cielo si fondono,
giaceva un testimone silenzioso — uno stambecco,
vinto dalla durezza del mondo alpino. La cecità da neve gli aveva tolto la vista, la fame il resto.
Rimaneva solo una carcassa — un’eco di vita, di dignità, di transitorietà.
Colpito da quella visione, iniziò la mia ricerca. Le prime immagini erano vuote, prive di profondità.
Ma dentro di me si formava una visione — una fotografia capace di rendere tangibile il dramma della natura selvaggia.
La tecnica divenne il mio strumento, la pazienza il mio alleato. Giorno dopo giorno, notte dopo notte,
rimasi nascosto tra le rocce, finché una fototrappola iniziò a registrare ogni movimento.
Un’aquila, una volpe, i più piccoli necrofagi —
tutti partecipavano a un antico e silenzioso rituale: la danza della vita e del disfacimento.
Per sei mesi ho ascoltato la voce della natura. La mia fotocamera vegliava — instancabile, attenta.
Dopo oltre 4.000 ore e migliaia di scatti, è nata questa immagine — una testimonianza della durezza della vita alpina, una storia di morte, resistenza e del ciclo eterno della natura.
Questa fotografia è stata premiata in due dei concorsi più prestigiosi al mondo: l’Asferico International Nature Photography Competition in Italia.

La tecnica divenne il mio strumento, la pazienza il mio alleato. Giorno dopo giorno, notte dopo notte,
rimasi nascosto tra le rocce, finché una fototrappola iniziò a registrare ogni movimento.
Un’aquila, una volpe, i più piccoli necrofagi —
tutti partecipavano a un antico e silenzioso rituale: la danza della vita e del disfacimento.
Per sei mesi ho ascoltato la voce della natura. La mia fotocamera vegliava — instancabile, attenta.
Dopo oltre 4.000 ore e migliaia di scatti, è nata questa immagine — una testimonianza della durezza della vita alpina, una storia di morte, resistenza e del ciclo eterno della natura.
Questa fotografia è stata premiata in due dei concorsi più prestigiosi al mondo: l’Asferico International Nature Photography Competition in Italia.
Ha trovato il suo posto in sedi di grande prestigio:
nell’iconica Sala Sbisà a Trieste, nell’onorato Museo Civico di Schleswig, e nella luce silenziosa del Kunstgang della Scuola Medica di Hannover.
Ha viaggiato tra musei di rilievo, è stata esposta in importanti festival di fotografia naturalistica,
e pubblicata in riviste di riferimento — BBC Wildlife Magazine, Terra Mater Magazine.

Unweit meines Zuhauses fließt ein Fluss – still, kraftvoll, umgeben von wildem Leben. Bei einer Wanderung entdeckte ich dort einen verendeten Körper. Ein stummer Zeuge, verloren im Kreislauf der Natur. Ich blieb, verbarg mich, beobachtete. Tagelang fotografierte ich die Vögel, die kamen, gingen, fraßen. Doch die Bilder blieben blass – sie erzählten noch nicht, was ich fühlte.
Also wagte ich einen Perspektivwechsel. Ich versteckte meine Kamera im Inneren des Kadavers – radikal, respektvoll. Von da an übernahm die Technik das Lauschen: Sechs Monate lang zeichnete ein Bewegungssensor jede Regung auf.
25.000 Aufnahmen später blieb eines zurück.

Near my home, a river flows—quiet, powerful, surrounded by wild life. On a hike, I discovered a carcass—silent witness, caught in nature’s endless cycle. I stayed, hid, observed. For days, I photographed birds coming and going, feeding, yet the images felt empty—they didn’t yet tell what I sensed.
So I took a different approach. I hid my camera inside the carcass—radical, respectful. From then on, technology listened for me: six months of continuous recording, triggered by a motion sensor. After 25,000 shots, one remained.
This one.

Hoch oben, wo Schnee und Schwefel aufeinandertreffen, fiel die Maske des Schweigens. Der Ätna, urzeitlicher Titan, riss seine Kruste auf und entließ einen Strom flüssigen Feuers in die winterliche Welt. Glühende Lava fraß sich über die weißen Hänge, während Nebel und Rauch das Schauspiel in ein geheimnisvolles Licht tauchten.
Ich stand am Rand dieser glühenden Grenze – zwischen Leben und Zerstörung – und ließ meine Drohne aufsteigen. Aus der Höhe offenbarte sich ein Bild voll wilder Harmonie. Ein feuriges Band zog sich durch eine Landschaft, geteilt in Licht und Schatten, Schnee und Asche – wie ein Gemälde der Gegensätze, gemalt von der Hand der Natur selbst.
Mit diesem Bild habe ich beim internationalen Wettbewerb BigPicture: Natural World Photography Competition den People’s Choice Award gewonnen.

High above, where snow and sulphur meet, the silence broke its mask. Mount Etna – a primordial titan – tore open its crust and released a stream of molten fire into the wintry world. Glowing lava carved its way across the white slopes, while mist and smoke veiled the scene in a mysterious light.
I stood at the edge of this burning threshold – between life and destruction – and launched my drone into the air. From above, a vision of wild harmony unfolded. A fiery ribbon traced its path through a landscape divided by light and shadow, snow and ash – like a painting of contrasts, drawn by nature’s own hand.
With this image, I won the People’s Choice Award at the international BigPicture: Natural World Photography competition.

Lassù, dove neve e zolfo si incontrano, cadde la maschera del silenzio. L’Etna – un titano primordiale – squarciò la sua crosta e riversò un fiume di fuoco liquido nel mondo invernale. La lava incandescente scivolava sui pendii innevati, mentre nebbia e fumo avvolgevano la scena in una luce misteriosa.
Mi trovavo al limite di questa soglia ardente – tra vita e distruzione – e feci alzare il mio drone. Dall’alto si rivelò una visione di armonia selvaggia. Un nastro di fuoco attraversava un paesaggio diviso tra luce e ombra, neve e cenere – come un dipinto di contrasti, tracciato dalla mano stessa della natura.

Entstanden ist das Bild am Ätna, dem höchsten aktiven Vulkan Europas. An diesem Tag offenbarte er seine ganze Urkraft. The awarded work will be published in the official IPA Annual Book 2025, which is represented internationally in museums, galleries, and private collections.
The image was created on Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano. On that day, the mountain revealed its raw primal force. Glowing rivers of lava carved their way across snow-covered slopes, while dense high-altitude fog shimmered in surreal colors. Im Vergleich zu anderen FineArt Papieren ist dieses jedoch nicht feuchtigkeitsempfindlich.

Diese Bildvariante vermittelt ein modernes Raumgefühl. Das Bild scheint durch die auf der Rückseite verborgene Halterung, welche eine Distanz von 1,5cm erzeugt, an der Wand zu schweben. Fotos auf Alu Dibond sind besonders formstabil. Unsere matte UV-Schutzkaschierung ermöglicht eine problemlose Reinigung der Bilder und vereint so Druckqualität mit Widerstandsfähigkeit. In the FineArt segment, we mainly work with high-quality papers from Hahnemühle. In addition, we offer another material combination that, together with a silky matte protective lamination, retains the color depth and detail fidelity of FineArt paper. Compared to other FineArt papers, this one is not sensitive to moisture.

Rispetto ad altre carte FineArt, questa non è sensibile all’umidità.
